Prompting & context engineering

Iterating deliberately

Also called: follow-up prompts, revise and improve

DEFINITION

Treating the first answer as a draft and improving it with specific, targeted follow-ups — 'shorten the intro', 'add a counter-argument' — rather than restarting from scratch.

WHY IT MATTERS

The value often comes in the second and third turn. Precise feedback moves faster than rerolling, and keeps the parts that were already good.

COMMONLY CONFUSED WITH

Regenerating. Rerolling gambles for a better whole answer; iterating fixes the specific things that were off.
