Adoption & value

Measuring the value

Also called: ROI of AI, did it actually help, value not activity

DEFINITION

Judging an AI adoption by the outcome it changed — time saved, errors avoided, decisions improved — rather than by usage counts or how impressive it looks.

WHY IT MATTERS

'People are using it' and 'it's creating value' are different claims, and confusing them keeps tools alive that quietly cost more than they return. A real measure, set before rollout, is what tells you to expand, fix, or stop.

COMMONLY CONFUSED WITH

Adoption metrics. Logins and message counts show activity; value shows up in the underlying work getting faster, cheaper, or better — which you have to measure on purpose.
